Jan is an artist and architect based in Melbourne.

Arising from an interest in the complex relationship between human beings and their environments, Jan’s Lost Tablets are artworks about architecture.

In Jan’s architectural projects, creative endeavour is put to work in response to briefs, and in a necessarily collaborative manner.

His artworks, by contrast, are solo acts of abstract architectural composition which are then exhibited publicly to test the idea that the subtle and coded languages of architecture are as universally recognisable as the the building blocks of the popular children’s toy from which the works are made.

Beyond his art practice, Jan runs an award winning architecture firm, is a creative-practice researcher, an educator, a strategic advisor to the creative and cultural industries.

The walls and ceilings of his home and studio have long since vanished behind a dense salon hang of works by generations of family members, and others by heroes and peers collected since childhood.
